Criss-crossing the globe to learn about new cultures definitely has it’s benefits, but one of the biggest drawbacks is the adverse affect that so much travel can have on your skin, i.e breakouts and dehydration. It’s common knowledge that Mrs. O routinely visits Martha’s Vineyard and recently travelled to Spain, and from all appearances, her skin looked like perfection. To get and maintain radiant-looking skin like the First Lady’s, rely on some of the products mentioned in this post and less on hoping that good genes will do the trick.

Alba Botanica Natural ACNEDote Deep Pore Wash ($9.95, albabotanica.com) is a gentle, natural and botanical foaming wash that contains willow bark extract and salicylic acid to prevent breakouts even after you rinse. Just apply to a wet face, massage and rinse twice a day. This product is for oily or acne-prone skin.

The second step in treating an acne breakout is to use Alba Botanica’s Natural ACNEDote Deep Clean Astringent ($9.95, albabotanica.com). It’s a cooling astringent that reduces breakouts within eight hours. This product also contains willow bark extract (a natural source of salicylic acid) to prevent acne and licorice and lentil extracts which neutralize acne-causing bacteria to combat oily skin. To soothe and calm your skin, this product contains organic aloe and chamomile. To use, apply this product on your face with a cotton ball after you’ve used the foaming wash.

For those of you who like the feeling of granules in their face washes, then opt for Vichy’s Normaderm Daily Exfoliating Cleansing Gel ($16.50, vichyusa.com, cvs stores). It’s an exfoliating formula that contains salicylic acid with smoothing micro-particles. Note: If you have extreme acne lesions, use a gentle face wash without granules to avoid irritation.

Since none of us (not even Mrs. O hiding behind oh-so-fabulous dark shades) is immune from the occasional puffy eye or dark circles, you should arm yourself with Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal Eye Roll-On ($26.50, cvs.com). This is an eye contour moisturizer that hydrates and reduces the appearance of under-eye bags and the intesity of dark circles. This product is good for dehydrated and sensitive skin. Simply use the roll-on under your eyes and watch as it soothes and reduces bags and the appearance dark circles. Note: Since this is a moisturizer, you can use this product as a base for eye makeup application.
