Never before has the saying “ The darker the berry the sweeter the juice” been more true until now…have you met the Sudanese “Queen of the Dark” Supermodel Nyakim Gatwech yet? This knee- deep in melanin beauty rocks for more than the obvious…her awe-inspiring beauty is literally from the inside out.
“My skin is who I am and I’m proud to be called my type of black not just black. I’m proud to be called Nuer, I’m proud be called South Sudanese. I’m proud to be blessed with my type of darkness. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
Not one to look in the mirror and think she is less than because of her deep rich hue, Nyakim is one of many really black beauties who celebrates her genetic blessings with the show of a middle finger to those who don’t see what the rest of us do…beauty indeed does come in all shades.
Once offered by an Uber driver $10,000 to bleach her skin, Nyakim turned that moment of deliberate indignation into a lifetime of doing her part to instill self confidence in women young and old who know the all-too-real struggle of not fitting into the conventional norms of beauty. Her Instagram account is littered with motivational messages that breathe life into the many who think their brand’s of beauty don’t matter…but they do. And if you forget to love you, head over to Nyakim Instagram’s account for a well-deserved confidence boost.
Show me a skin with no bleach and I’ll show you beauty.
We salute you Nyakim for owning your pretty.
