I think it’s safe to assume from the look of her physique that Elise Neal spends a good amount of time exercising. Her background as a dancer has clearly served her well. But, imagine for a moment that one of your own workout sessions produced so much sweat that you were left with remnants of acne on your body as a result.
While it is true that sweat does release toxins from your body, sweat isn’t exactly released from the pores, but from deeper under the skin. There are two possible reasons why sweat could cause acne: the salt content in sweat is known to aggravate existing acne and those with acne-prone skin; the other is that sweat harbors bacteria, and if you leave sweat on your face or body after exercise, the bacteria could enter your pores and could then lead to an acne breakout. Now we have two product that address how to treat body acne from sweating.
If you have unsightly bumps on any part of your body, there is a fantastic product called Id Sweat Acne and Overall Antibacterial Monolaurin Gel ($24, vmvhypoallergenics.com) that treats the fungus that causes sweat acne and works on all skin types. You can use this gel as often as needed without suffering irritation. To use, dab a dime-size of product on a cotton ball and apply to the affected area(s) and let dry starting twice a week and working your way up to once a day.
Another product that could help ease the appearance of body acne is Murad Acne Body Wash ($39.50, murad.com, sephora stores). It controls body breakouts with the ingredient salicylic acid, eliminates bacteria through gentle exfoliation and prevents future breakouts.
Tip: A good at-home skin care regimen would be to use the body wash first and then the gel at least twice a week. If your body acne results in scarring, seek the advice of a dermatologist.
