Get The Beauty Look of Social Secretary Desiree Rogers

During President Obama’s first 100 days, I was glued to CNN and MSNBC to track the comings and goings of get this, not President Obama, not even Michelle Obama, I was trying to get a glimpse of the Obama Social Secretary Desiree Rogers. She apparently has been touted (and I have to agree) as one of the best-dressed women in Washington, next to Mrs. Obama, of course.

As we all know, this is a beautiful time in political history. But, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t focus on the most important part of the Obama administration (according to Gregorie) – the makeup.  As seen here, Rogers used subtle makeup to accomplish three things: make a strong impact, accentuate her great bone structure and to top off her exquisite wardrobe. Brava! Brava! Job well done. Can I be your shopping buddy Ms. Rogers?

When I saw this picture of her, I was struck by how classy and not over-done she looked. You might be thinking “so what products can I use to recreate this look?” Well, your fairy makeup mother is here to give you the answers. Please no tears, just get your pen and paper ready, or better yet, just print this article and take it with you to the store. I love all of the products I am suggesting, but I think the Pièce de résistance is the Neutrogena Nourishing Eyeshadow Quad which makes applying eyeshadow for novices scarily easy. The words, base, highlighter, crease and accent color are written above the color on the outside of the lid so you can’t go wrong with this gem. There’s absolutely no guessing involved. All of the shades you need are there waiting to applied. Next, you need to make your peepers sing with Sephora’s Lengthening Mascara.

Add a nice peachy/pink blush like MAC’s Style Warrior Beauty Powder Blush (or a complimentary blush based on your complexion) to introduce a touch of warmth to your cheeks. Mimic Rogers’ shimmering lips with L’Oreal’s Infallible Never Fail Lipliner in Nude and fill them in with NARS Satin Lipstick in Promiscuous.  Finish up with a light dusting of Studio Gear Star Dust Shimmering Powder in Bronzed on your chin, cheeks and on your temples. You do want to stand out in a crowd don’t you?

Just remember these parting words – Don’t be scared. Color is fun. And I promise that after the first compliment, your makeup bag will stay permanently lodged under your armpit. Well maybe not your armpit but you get my drift.

Until next week ladies!
