Prep Your Summer Skin with 4 Fall Skin Care Tips
If only we could mimic the silky, smooth look of Tika Sumpter’s beautiful, chocolate skin. I’m sure you’re dying to find out how she keeps her skin so velvety soft as she transitions from summer to fall. Well, today’s your lucky day! While I don’t know the exact products Tika uses, I can recommend some products that will smooth your seasonal transition as summer quickly comes to an end.
Fall weather is synonymous with dry air, and with that comes changes to our skin. So, you have to make adjustments to the products you use on your face and body given the change of seasons. If your skin is oily or normal during the summer and is suddenly dry during the winter, then you’ll have to adjust to a new moisturizer. I suggest Ambi Even & Clear Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 ($11.99). My sister absolutely swears by it. Funny enough, she started using it because a former co-worker gave it to her two years ago. She has been gloriously slathering it on her face ever since. Not to mention that she continues to recommend it to everyone she knows. It’s one of my favorite products, and I encourage you to try it as well. The texture is light and emollient. And best of all, this Ambi moisturizer provides sunblock coverage. The lotion melts right into the skin without leaving that nasty film often found in sunscreen products that contain Titanium Dioxide & Zinc Oxide. This is the perfect moisturizer to take you from summer to fall in one easy step.
I’ve put together a basic fall skin care tip sheet to help you transition from summer to fall easily.
MY PRO TIPS:
- Tip 1: Protect your lips. Weather changes can have a drastic affect on your skin, and especially on our lips. They become dry and chapped as the seasons change from summer to fall. I recommend Boots Original Beauty Formula Lip Salve ($7.99) to keep your pout chap-free. This beautifully wrapped package is easy on the wallet and is long-lasting for quality all-day coverage.
- Tip 2: Don’t ignore your hands. Restore moisture to your dry hands with my childhood favorite – Neutrogena Norweigan Formula Age Shield Hand Cream ($6.79). Mom always had a tube of this cream in her purse and she eventually gave my sister and me our own supply. Talk about responsibility at such a young age. This cream is quite thick, rich and tack-free and does wonders for my my extremely dry hands. The packaging isn’t exactly sexy, but it does the job. Just throw it in your bag and go.
- Tip 3: Hydrate and exfoliate your body with Brown Sugar Body Polish by fresh ($65) at least twice a week. I’ve used body polishes similar to this when I’ve given body polish treatments to clients in the past. This is the real thing. It moisturizes and gently buffs your skin. Just dip your hand into the jar, remove a spoonful and apply to a wet body and move in a circular motion. To get the full benefit of this product, enlist the help of a trusted friend to apply the product to your back. I promise, that your once unattractive, flakey skin will be replaced with smooth, glowing skin. While the price-point is steep, the value is well worth it.
- Tip 4: Don’t neglect your elbows. If left unattended, your elbows become rough over time. Take special care of them by using Be Fine Rough Spot Lemon Balm ($9.99). Luckily, the oh-so quirky packaging doesn’t overshadow the effectiveness of this product. The shea butter in this product soothes and moisturizes your rough patches.
