Mane Monday: Long Hair Tips From The Pros

Long Hair

Having dreams of long hair this fall that doesn’t include the help of weaves or extensions? I’m thinking yes. Although reaching this goal without a clip-in or two seems kind of impossible, it is if you take to heart these three must-follow quick tips from Jasmine Anna Galazka, Senior Stylist at Warren-Tricomi Salon at The Plaza and Educator for Shu Uemura and Kerastase, and the master behind the beautiful locks of Shakira and singer Rachel Platten.

The Buzz

The Right Cut. You should always get a thorough cut once a year — just how thorough will vary if we are talking about how many inches; texture will play a role here, also if your hair is processed/colored that will have an effect on the type of cut and just how much length will come off. The more damaged your hair, of course the more comes off.. but the good news is that you can actually maintain every 3-4 months there after with just “dusting” the ends to keep hair looking and feeling healthy.

Daily Deep Treatments. Treatments are key in keeping the follicle of your hairshaft smooth and healthy. My favorite is Shu Uemura Silk Bloom Restorative Treatment Masque, it’s restorative and full of argan oil which helps to strengthen the hair from within. You can use it daily, or every time you wash your hair, for a few months to get your hair to better condition and then switch to a more daily conditioner like Urban Moisture Hydro-Nourishing Conditioner from Shu Uemura.

Treatments From Within. As much as we want (AND NEED!) to treat our long hair to make it feel better from the outside, we sometimes don’t realize that we are lacking vitamins and key nutrients inside our bodies which are essential in keeping your hair strong. I have seen that Nutrafol for women has drastically improved the condition of hair with many of my clients but most importantly it aids in helping it grow!! If you want thicker, fuller, longer hair, this vitamin is a miracle worker!
