What better way to get into the spirit of celebrating Memorial Day then with the new, lively Bond No.9 fragrance – Liberty Island. And who better to represent the notion of “doing you because you can” than Nicole Richie, who enjoys a bright new hair hue whenever the mood hits her.

The Buzz – Celebrate Memorial Day

New York-Centric Bond No. 9 has a summertime tradition launching fresh and breezy island beach scents. Arriving just in time for Memorial Day and July 4th is Liberty Island – the world’s most famous island  visited by more than 4 million freedom-lovers a year and is home to the crown-wearing, torch-bearing 151-foot tall Franco-American Statue of Liberty.

Liberty Island is a joyous, sparkling fruity-floral, summertime unisex blend of starter citrus-y notes of bergamot essence, mandarin essence and riveting tangy black current. Included next are seductive notes of orange blossom absolute and jasmine. And finally, it helps you greet summer with lingering base notes of heady musk mingled with sugary marshmallow.

Bond No. 9 continues its tradition of creating memorable and iconic bottle artwork. The Liberty Island superstar bottle is rendered ins shining, semi-transparent cobalt blue. Randomly placed effervescent, white stars appear on the bottle surface, as in the irregularly-shaped stars seen on the Star Spangled Banner and on Miss Liberty’s star-shaped base.

Available at Bond No. 9 New York boutiques, Saks Fifth Avenue nationwide, select Bloomingdales stores, Harrods UK and bondno9.com. The price: 100ml, $295; 50ml, $220.

Why You’ll Love It

Why I love Liberty Island starts with the press kit that came with an 8×10 glossy 4-color picture of the latest fragrance that begs to be framed and displayed on my imaginary wall of favorite perfumes, and will definitely be added to the many other Bond No. 9 pictures I already own. The picture alone is an impressive way to get and keep my attention. I was less impressed with the sample size that I received of Liberty Island because I’m a collector of beautiful perfume bottles, but I get it, the price point is none too cheap, so I received what many editors did, which brings me to the juice. It’s fresh, it’s light, the juice does linger on the nose, but only for a few as not to irritate you, but lasts long enough to entice those standing near you, drawing them in closer, only if you agree to the invasion of space, of course. You may find yourself periodically waning your wrist past your nose for a breezy Liberty Island fix to get you through the next moments of life…something I was constantly doing as I wrote this post.
